Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited or DHFL

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Wadhawan founded the Dewan Housing Finance Corporation on the 11th of April 1984 with its registered office located at Mumbai. It provides access to all the housing finance, whether it is lower or the middle-income Indians. It is also the second housing finance company set-up in India.

Initially, the company disbursed funds from its equity contribution and then had a return on equity, which was less than 8% at a time when the interest rates were approximately 18%. And two decades later, DHFL is still said to be a profitable company and doing what its founder intended it to perform. It has also disbursed loans amounting to over 53 billion to a far extent, and its non-performing assets are also considered as the lowest in the Industry.

Currently, DHFL has an asset base of about INR 3,580 crores, which is a strong presence across India via its 72 branches and 116 service locations. It also caters to a large section of Indians who are working in the Middle East via an overseas Dubai branch.

In June 2010, DHFL along with its subsidiary DHFL Vysya Housing Finance have promoted a housing finance Company by the name and style of 'Aadhar Housing Finance" or AHFL. The AHFL, in its initial period, also proposed to target the market in the direct housing loans for them in the low-income section of the Indian population in many individual states.

In December 2010, DHFL also acquired Deutsche Postbank Home Finance for INR 1079 Crore.
