It was initially incorporated in Lucknow as InterGlobe Aviation Private Limited, a private limited company, under the Companies Act, 1956 as of January 13, 2004, with the Registrar of Companies, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal at Kanpur. According to a special resolution of the shareholders of the Company on June 30, 2006, it was converted into a public company and the company name was changed to "InterGlobe Aviation Limited" subsequent to which, a fresh certificate of incorporation was issued by the Registrar of Companies, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Haryana as of August 11, 2006. Also, the registered office was changed from the state of Uttar Pradesh to the National Capital Territory of Delhi as of September 6, 2004, after the alteration was confirmed by the Company Law Board vide order dated September 1, 2004.
2005: It placed a landmark order of 100 A320 aircraft with Airbus.
It took the delivery of the first aircraft.
